As seen in most TV ads, waking up in the cold morning, looking at the sunrise and a hand cup full of coffee could start your day perfectly. The aroma embodies the hard work of harvesting the beans from a vast field and the taste satisfies the buds as it is brewed from the finest ingredients. Coffee by definition is a brewed beverage with a dark, slightly acidic flavor prepared from the roasted seeds of the coffee plant, colloquially called coffee beans. The beans are found in coffee cherries, which grow on trees cultivated in over 70 countries, primarily in equatorial Latin America, Southeast Asia, South Asia and Africa. And is one of the most consummated beverages in the world, creating a stimulating effect to humans.
The first cup of coffee I had was the one my grandma made when I was younger. The finely grounded coffee beans calm my body as the incorporated sweetness of the sugar gave me a hint that every sip is worth it. Since then, I have had countless mugs and cups of coffee from every corner of the globe. For me, food and drinks are an emotional experience. You enjoy your favorite cafes and restaurants in large part because of the way they make you feel. Simple moments are made even better by just having those little talks over a cup of good coffee plus a set of tasty pastry along the side. And then a friend of sent me a gift for my birthday. It was in an unusually packed red and green package, as though, it was Christmas already, with a gold ribbon on it. I opened it and saw two bags of gourmet coffee in it. I immediately transferred them into different canisters.
In one of my trips to Asia, I brought along with me one canister. It was a business trip in the middle of the year. Unlike America, the wet season lasts even longer in some parts of the Asian region and I’m so glad that I don’t have to drive myself to strangers’ streets just to find a cozy place to be and do my reports and maybe, drink coffee to stimulate my senses. There was a time that I got really cracked up with work and browsed my Facebook account and searched for “Ganovia coffee” in Google. Amazingly, there was very little information associated with the searches until I called my friend Kirsten. She said, she bought the coffee from her chiropractor who used to treat her spine curvature (Scoliosis) and she thought that I would like the taste plus its “Super Food” content. I’ve heard a lot of stuff containing there super food but I really don’t know what are the kinds, and I remembered she mentioned about a page on Facebook where I can look for more information about the content.
I learned that a certain Happy Berry contains rich amount of antioxidants, particularly carotenoids such as beta-carotene, Vitamins A, C, and E, which helps boosts the immunity and an anti oxidant called zeaxanthin which acts to protect the retina of the eye. I am very conscious about my eyesight because I spend substantial amount of time working in front of my computer and doing the paper works. The first time I heard that Cordyceps are good food for all I know; they thrive on moisture rich environment and are considered to be fungi. The silly looking is known as the “Healing Mushroom” to Ancient Chinese that has an anti inflammatory effect that is needed by the body to help fight infection and its relative, the Ganoderma Mushroom. In centuries, it is used to promote health and longevity in the Orient.
For the longest time I have been a coffee-holic and going to places just to find for freshly roasted, dark coloured heavenly tasted beverage, I find Ganovia Coffee as one of the greatest things that happened to brewing!
“The power of a man’s mind is directly proportional to the quantity of coffee he drinks.” – Sir James Mackintosh

Network Family Wellness Center introduced the BioPhotonic scanner 1 year ago. It is a great way to track the health of your body. On Tuesday May 17, 2011 the Pharmanex scanner was presented to the audience on the Dr Oz show. Dr Oz scored 75,000 which is considered an A. Majority of the population scores 10,000 – 20,000 in the F range. Range is compared to a report card of A – F.
Great validity to what we have been doing at NFWC. We are the ONLY chiropractic office in boulder that offers this service. Stop in and find out your score for a $20.00.

Organic is essential says Dr. Daniel Knowles. To maximize wellness we must reduce pesticide exposure in our diet. Just like our bodies immune system functioning better without the interference of medications. Fruits and veggies develop stronger without pesticides. For example a new study in Food Chemistry found that organic strawberries have more disease fighting antioxidants than conventionally grown ones have. Why? without pesticides, berries must fend for themselves naturally, which in turn boosts their antioxidant capacity. Added bonus, if you store berries in your fridge their antioxidant ability boosts even more.
 The Fruit Aisle
At the same time buying organic has a price tag so people often ask which foods are the most toxic or the most important to buy organic. A very useful rule of thumb is to buy the foods that don’t have a naturally coating from the organic section. for example strawberries and lettuce do not have a natural protection from pesticides, they absorb them directly. while bananas have a shield so to speak.
Don’t let the fear of pesticides reduce your consumption of fruits and vegetables. Consuming 6-9 servings of fruits and veggies a day is one of your most important wellness strategies. During winter months importing of fruits and veggies increases and account for a larger share of the perishable produce in your grocery store. This becomes even more important then.
Below is a reference list for the fruits and vegetables that you want to buy organic as often as possible.
The fruits that are at greatest risk for toxicity are: cranberries, nectarines, peaches, strawberries, pears, apples, grapes, cherries and cantaloupes.
The vegetables that pose the greatest pesticide risk are: green beans, sweet bell peppers, celery, cucumbers, potatoes, tomatoes peas, broccoli, carrots and lettuce.
Choose wisely at the grocery store , your health depends on it. A small investment now will pay off big dividends in the future.

Last week our nutrition technology was highlighted on national television. The highly acclaimed television show dr oz, formerly on Oprah, aired a program antioxidant all stars focusing on the dangers of free radicals and the benefits of antioxidants. they scanned the whole audience with the revolutionary antioxidant scanner and seated the whole audience in colored t shirts representing their score! Dr oz himself was scanned and crowned the pharmanex unit the ultimate nutrition lie detector. For a national television network to make such a claim dr oz must have done his research.
As did Dr’s Danny and Richelle. 18 months before dr oz and ABC, Dr’s Danny and Richelle flew out to Utah to the research and development lab to assess the quality of the technology and the various nutrition protocols related to the findings. before a technology was in our office we wanted to feel certain about recommending it.
During the show dr oz related the scan score to the most significant illness of our time, cancer. An elaborate demonstration was enacted to explain the relationship of antioxidant levels and DNA breakage. The rate of DNA breakage is directly related to cancer rates. Due to the protection provided by antioxidants the biophotonic scanner test score is correlated to longevity. Des danny and richelle highly recommend your whole family get scanned to assess your health and recommend steps to improve where you are and your future. Find out if you are lying to yourself.

We concluded last week in the office with our Stay Well during the Flu Season Workshop. One of the key topics was that this is the time of year that people need to stay consistent with their healthy lifestyle choices and their Chiropractic care the most.
Florida Atlantic university found that chiropractic lowered flu rate more than Flu shot. During the next 2 months people experience more physical, chemical and emotional stress than any other time of
year. Please don’t let the hustle and bustle of the Holiday season take you away from your good habits. This is a key to staying well through the holidays.
Below is some useful information about how you can both improve your health status and
improve your resistance to the flu and many other health problems easily and
naturally…
1- Get Adjusted to keep your immune system strong
2- Reduce Sugar consumption
3- Keep Antioxidant consumption high, fresh fruits and vegetables
4- Get plenty of rest
5- Make healthier food choices
6- Eat more organic vegetables and fruits
7- Takenatural nutritional supplements especially Antioxidants, Omega 3′s and Multivitamins
8- Don’t medicate unless absolutely necessary especially antibiotics
9- Lower your stress levels
10- Stop smoking
11- Take steps to lessen toxin intake by drinking purified water and eating moreorganic, pesticide, hormone free foods
12- Increase your exercise at this time of year
According to the Doctor’s Resource Center, the following approaches may be helpful once a person contracts the flu:
1. Echinacea may help clear symptoms faster
2. Black elderberry may also speed recovery
Additionally, when it comes to prevention of the flu, supplementing with Vitamin C may help and a study from Japan indicated that gargling with green tea extract reduced ones likelihood of contracting the flu.
An old study in the Journal of Family Practice from 1989 found that family stress increases the risk of flu and taking measures to relieve stress may be helpful.
Ultimately, preventing the flu and promoting good health are both associated with having a strong and healthy immune system.
Stress, poor dietary choices, sugar, excessive alcohol and tobacco all reduce immune function so common sense says to eat right and take care of your body.
Additionally, proper rest, adequate exercise, lots of pure water and a healthy nervous system are paramount in preventing disease and growing your health. Feel free to consult with us for more
details…
Got C?
Vitamin C is a free radical scavenger and helps protect white blood cells. Research has shown that vitamin
C taken daily can prevent a cold or flu or shorten the duration. A 1999 study published in the Journal
of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics found that daily doses of Vitamin C can effectively relieve or prevent flu symptoms

WHAT THE EXPERTS SAY ABOUT ANTIOXIDANTS
“The amount of antioxidants that you maintain in your body is directly proportional to how long you will live.” - Richard Cutler M.D., Director Anti-Aging Research, National Institute of Health (NIH)
“There’s a revolution happening out there right now. People are bound and determined to take an active role in their health care. I have long refereed to antioxidants as the revolution that would change the face of modern medicine, but without a reliable convenient and painless method of measuring antioxidant levels, I was afraid that the revolution would die before it even got started. I am happy to report with the Antioxidant Laser Scanner the revolution is back on track!” – Dr. James Balch, author of the Antioxidant Revolution, and co-author of eight-million copy best seller Prescription for Nutritional Healing
“Scientists now believe that free radicals are causal factors in nearly every known disease, from heart disease to arthritis to cancer to cataracts. In fact, free radicals are a major culprit in the aging process itself. By controlling free radicals, antioxidants can make the difference between life and death, as well as influence how fast and how well we age.”- Lester Packer, Ph. D.- Head of the Packer labs at the University of California at Berkeley. Dr. Packer, author of The Antioxidant Miracle, is regarded as the world’s foremost antioxidant research scientist.
“Scientists’ understanding of the benefits of vitamins has rapidly advanced, and it now appears that people who get enough vitamins may be able to prevent such common chronic illnesses as cancer, heart disease and osteoporosis. All adults should take a multivitamin daily.” -Journal of American Medical Association, June 19, 2002
“Powerful antioxidants like lutein and xeaxanthin (from green vegetables) and lycopene (from tomatoes) may protect against coronary-artery disease, cataracts, macular degeneration and cancer.” – Time Magazine, October 20, 2003
“Antioxidants can cut your risk of heart disease up to 70%, diabetes 40%, lung cancer 30%, and breast cancer 20% studies show. Many leading authorities now urge all adults to take a daily supplement. USA Today, January 18th, 2004
