In Between Coffee Mugs and Good Souls

Monday, September 12th, 2011

As seen in most TV ads, waking up in the cold morning, looking at the sunrise and a hand cup full of coffee could start your day perfectly. The aroma embodies the hard work of harvesting the beans from a vast field and the taste satisfies the buds as it is brewed from the finest ingredients. Coffee by definition is a brewed beverage with a dark, slightly acidic flavor prepared from the roasted seeds of the coffee plant, colloquially called coffee beans. The beans are found in coffee cherries, which grow on trees cultivated in over 70 countries, primarily in equatorial Latin America, Southeast Asia, South Asia and Africa. And is one of the most consummated beverages in the world, creating a stimulating effect to humans.

The first cup of coffee I had was the one my grandma made when I was younger. The finely grounded coffee beans calm my body as the incorporated sweetness of the sugar gave me a hint that every sip is worth it. Since then, I have had countless mugs and cups of coffee from every corner of the globe. For me, food and drinks are an emotional experience. You enjoy your favorite cafes and restaurants in large part because of the way they make you feel. Simple moments are made even better by just having those little talks over a cup of good coffee plus a set of tasty pastry along the side. And then a friend of sent me a gift for my birthday. It was in an unusually packed red and green package, as though, it was Christmas already, with a gold ribbon on it. I opened it and saw two bags of gourmet coffee in it. I immediately transferred them into different canisters.

In one of my trips to Asia, I brought along with me one canister. It was a business trip in the middle of the year. Unlike America, the wet season lasts even longer in some parts of the Asian region and I’m so glad that I don’t have to drive myself to strangers’ streets just to find a cozy place to be and do my reports and maybe, drink coffee to stimulate my senses. There was a time that I got really cracked up with work and browsed my Facebook account and searched for “Ganovia coffee” in Google. Amazingly, there was very little information associated with the searches until I called my friend Kirsten. She said, she bought the coffee from her chiropractor who used to treat her spine curvature (Scoliosis) and she thought that I would like the taste plus its “Super Food” content. I’ve heard a lot of stuff containing there super food but I really don’t know what are the kinds, and I remembered she mentioned about a page on Facebook where I can look for more information about the content.

I learned that a certain Happy Berry contains rich amount of antioxidants, particularly carotenoids such as beta-carotene, Vitamins A, C, and E, which helps boosts the immunity and an anti oxidant called zeaxanthin which acts to protect the retina of the eye. I am very conscious about my eyesight because I spend substantial amount of time working in front of my computer and doing the paper works. The first time I heard that Cordyceps are good food for all I know; they thrive on moisture rich environment and are considered to be fungi. The silly looking is known as the “Healing Mushroom” to Ancient Chinese that has an anti inflammatory effect that is needed by the body to help fight infection and its relative, the Ganoderma Mushroom. In centuries, it is used to promote health and longevity in the Orient.

For the longest time I have been a coffee-holic and going to places just to find for freshly roasted, dark coloured heavenly tasted beverage, I find Ganovia Coffee as one of the greatest things that happened to brewing!

“The power of a man’s mind is directly proportional to the quantity of coffee he drinks.” – Sir James Mackintosh

Best Chiropractor Boulder | Care for your Spine and Nutrition Reduce Your Cancer Risk

Tuesday, June 28th, 2011

Mom was right after all—we need to eat our vegetables, and lots of them, if we want to protect ourselves against cancer.

According to the US Cancer Society 1.4 million new cancer cases are expected per year as well as over 500,000 deaths per year.   this makes cancer the 2nd leading cause of death even with all our nation’s  medical technology.  This carries a total annual price tag of $74 billion in direct medical costs.  The good News is that the American Cancer Society also says 75%-80% of cancer deaths are preventable.

According to a wave of studies, scientists have found compelling and consistent data associating diets rich in vegetables and fruits with a lower risk of cancer. This is great news for you.

Of the 200-plus global studies that were conducted, scientists safely conclude that a plant-rich diet puts people at a lower risk for developing tumors. Data from one particular area of research found that a diet rich in vegetables and grains slashed the risk of colon cancer by 40 percent. Another study found that women who regularly ate little to no vegetables were 25 percent more prone to develop breast cancer.

What is in vegetables and fruits that wards off cancer? John D. Potter, and epidemiologist at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Centre in Seattle says, “We’re discovering a plethora of bioactive substance in plant foods.” This substance is being labeled as a “phytochemical”. In a nut shell, these phytochemicals are naturally occurring compounds that interfere with the growth of cancer by slowing down, stopping or even reversing cancer’s damage.

Additionally, studies have shown that if the rates of DNA damage exceed the rate of repair it, the accumulation of errors can overwhelm the cell and result in early aging, cell self distruction, or cancer. Inherited diseases associated with faulty DNA repair functioning result in premature aging, increased sensitivity to carcinogens, and correspondingly increased cancer risk. On the other hand, organisms with enhanced DNA repair systems, exhibit remarkable resistance to even the double-strand break-inducing effects of radioactivity, likely due to enhanced efficiency of DNA repair.   Independent of age, sex or taking nutritional supplements, long-term chiropractic care of two or more years re-established a normal physiological state of DNA repair in patients.

Patients receiving chiropractic care showed higher mean serum thiol levels, compared to patients with active disease, and produced some values that were higher than normal wellness values.

Simply stated, as we live life, we are subjected to physical, biochemical, and psychological stress. Our ability to repair damaged DNA is an important factor in health and longevity. Oxidative stress is now a broadly accepted theory of how we age and develop disease. Oxidative stress results in DNA damage, and inhibits DNA repair. In short, we now have evidence that chiropractic adjustments affect the chemistry of biological processes on a cellular level.

Take a proactive stance to protect your body from cancer. Eat plenty of vegetables and fruits each day, and make chiropractic adjustments part of your healthy lifestyle. It all works together to give you a better quality of life.

Boulder Chiropractor says Love Your Disease!

Wednesday, October 6th, 2010

LOVE YOUR DISEASE IT IS KEEPING YOU HEALTHY!   There are many modalities you can do in health care and disease care to fix your injuries, ailments, symptoms or distress. Whether something is natural or artificial, a drug or an herb, a therapy or a form of bodywork the goal is still to return you to the state you were in before you had the injury, disease, symptom or problem that has disrupted your life. The problem is that this is returning you to the state that developed the problem! Your symptom, condition or problem didn’t make you sick, trying to eliminate it won’t make you well. Your symptom or distress is the end result of the life you have lived up until it happened! It is the messenger that is letting you know to pay attention, to change course, to do something different, to wake up. Fixing the condition will not make you well, it just delays you learning something from your body about the life you have lived. Symptoms and diseases are the chaos to take us off the track we are on. Rather than follow their cue we have been taught to eliminate the chaos and return to life as we knew it before the problem arose. But that is not good enough anymore. When the alarm goes off you can only hit the snooze button so many times before it causes another problem. We don’t want to be another attempt at a quick fix for you that simply keeps you on the same path your health and life is going. There are plenty of these options out there. Network care is your long term solution to develop new internal strategies for a whole new you. As your spine and nerve system gets healthier a new you is built. As opposed to fixing individual structural distortions or injuries we are helping your body develop the ability to better support itself, protect your nerve system and adapt to life stresses. A stronger healthier internal environment is created as your nerve system evolves with internal tools for healing from within. This allows you to better hear that voice inside. To receive the subtle messages of your body that are directing you before they get so loud and severe that you want to silence the messenger. Taking the path of silencing the messenger is ok… but you must remember that the next messenger that comes will speak even louder, be more toxic and more disruptive to your life as you know it. As your spine and nerve system gets healthier you are more connected to your source. The subtle cues of your body mind become more apparent so you are self directed to make healthier choices and to direct your life. The goal is not to feel nothing, you can do that with a number of things from aspirin to alcohol. The goal of becoming healthier and more whole is to FEEL EVERYTHING!
