What is especially important here is that throughout his book Dr. Sarno bluntly smashes the myths that most patients hold dear blaming their physical traumas and their discs, arthritis, stenosis and other diagnosis as the cause to their problems. He lists tremendous clinical reasons as to why that is just not true.
I see this as empowering to the patient because it helps them to not be a victim to their dreaded diagnosis that has sentenced them to never feel better again and a slave to their pain levels. In fact he recommends against bed rest when in pain and prefers people get up and keep moving rather than be a victim.
This landmark book is incredibly acknowledging of the connection between mind and body and healing. As a chiropractor helping you have greater spinal health we also want you to make the connection between spine and emotions… mind and body. This is at the root of healing your spine and your life. Don’t be in fear of your symptoms or your diagnosis. Rather know with helping your spine improve the integrity of your bones and muscles and nerves, you are not an unconscious slave to the patterns of behavior that your body mind that are decreasing the health of the structure of your spine and nerve system.
